Francesco Mazzi|La Casa degli Dei (The House of the Gods)
This monumental work was created around two enduring themes: the reverence that humankind has felt for mountains since ancient times, and the spirit within us that continually strives toward greater heights.
Throughout history, mountains have been regarded as sacred places where heaven and earth, the divine and the human, converge. Believed to be not only the dwelling places of the gods but also guardians of gold and precious treasures, mountains become, in Francesco Mazzi’s vision, a metaphor for the summits we aspire to reach in our own lives.
The composition brings together three majestic mountain landscapes: the Himalayas on the right, Mount Everest at the center, and the Matterhorn on the left. These iconic peaks of Asia and Europe merge into a single world, where a profound palette of silver, gold, white, and indigo, reliefs carved like mysterious codes, and a sacred gradation of light that envelops the mountains and gradually illuminates their forms create a solemn and mystical realm evocative of a place inhabited by the gods.
The title, La Casa degli Dei — The House of the Gods, embodies the human spirit that seeks to transcend its own limits and ascend toward greater heights. Just as people once looked to the mountain peaks and envisioned gods and hidden gold, the “summit” for us today can represent the success or destination toward which we aspire. The challenge of reaching that summit, and what we discover beyond it, become among the most precious values of our lives.
With a canvas spanning one meter in width and its sculptural, dimensional expression, the work unites the grandeur of nature with the spirituality of the human experience. Works of this scale are now created only on exceptionally rare occasions by Francesco Mazzi, making La Casa degli Dei one of the more exceptional large-scale works within the MAZZI FINE ART collection.
